Hey Doc I think we should get a "Distributed ward" going for our work to post daily stats for the team and individual stats.

Not quite sure what you are talking about nevex, care to explain?

Nevex refers to this thread. Though it's really not popular enough to warrant it's own special category at this point imho.. perhaps if more asylumites got involved?

Anyway I'm with Nevex on this:

1. There are some forums in the Asylum which have received less posts than that previous thread so it can't really be a popularity thing can it?

2. I think the problem has been that the topic has languished in obscurely titled threads so far.

3. I believe that the good Doctor is enthusiastic about this project.

I should by next week have at least 10 machines running the max load allowed by the program. Right now I stand at 3. The other 7 I need permission for. But i may even go beyond 10+ if he lets me.

Any chance of calling it 'Disturbed Computing' rather than Distributed? It would fit the 'theme' of the Asylum better.

This screen has been up there for a while now. Anyone want to tell me if something is wrong. My addy is also not registering when I attempt to log in the the ozone team.

How long should it take the database to propagate?

24hours if your running rc5. Looks as if your doing OGR and thats slow. Go grab my config off the old post. Dont forget to delete the ,ogr files or it wil keep writing even if you tell it not to.

Works now! Thanks all, now just got to wait for the DB to get propagated so I can register with the team.

Oh, BTW I simply enter the email address I am using as the username for the logon? no need for a password?

You have to go to the RC5 stats page and do a search for your e-mail address. That will take you to your stats page and at the bottom of that page is a button to have your password e-mailed to you. You'll need the password to join the team.

We need votes on the forum, like above it says if you build it they will come(field of dreams). So if we make that forum we wil get more members helping us and making our team number 1.

The idea gets my vote (it should be obvious but I thought I'd put it in writing).

I'd also like to add a fourth point to the 3 above:

4. If you build it and they don't come then it doesn't really matter and the forum can be consigned to history (and the odd sly joke).

It appears I've got me password and am now in the team (I should appear tomorrow).

These guys are really bad at there updates. Out of the 5 days I have been on I have 2 days accounted for.

Updates occure automatically at 0:00 every night.

The is huge volume running through their site, because of this it is a lot more efficient for them to run the system on periodic updates instead of immediate updates.

My stats were pretty up to date when I looked at them today.

I dunno.. Could you be a little more specific? What have you done so far? What's not working? Did you give it a day for your stats to get into the db?

I can see this running ok, but so far all I changed was the email.... as far as I can tell, the OGR thing is the only part going.... did I do this right....? once I figure it out, I'll connect the rest of the house.... (ha, you laugh... that's 5 more pc's at least)

btw- I'm trying to hook up 2 of my own comp for this. Both are about 1 year old and in awesome shape. I would try to hook up my current comp, but it is hardly ever going to be on allday, question: while db is crunching, does it make your comp lag? you know like if I want to search,download, or write a paper? If it doesn't slow my comp down to bad I will consider hooking this one up.

Penny Lane, ya got freckles and green eyes?.. I mean uh.. no fancy sig necessary. I have but one because frankly this is the only place I use one, a lot of work went into it, and I like it. Got some other ideas floating around I might give a go one of these days though, time permiting. Make sure you're only working on the RC5-64 btw. Hint.. Load-work precedence ==> DES=0,CSC=0,OGR=0,RC5

Dark, the client doesn't compete at all with other progs for processor time. It'll only use whats available, when you run other programs *it* slows down or stops all together depending on the demands of the program you're using. On my machine it runs about half speed with PS running, slows down to practicly nothing if I watch a DVD and absolutely nothing if I play a bit of UT. Nothing will lag because of this program.. trust me.
