Topic awaiting preservation: scrolling backgrounds.. ozone style! (Page 1 of 1)

Hi all,

I'm knocking up a quick page for someone - this isn't to take too long; supposed to be a quicky...

My question:

Is there a quick and dirty method to get a horizontal scrolling background image - either a layer background, or a table background? I'm hoping theres a script out there I can drop in...

If this requires lots of thought and learning, I'll have to put it on hold until I have more time..

You can't scroll a background image per say, but you can scroll a layer with an image in it. =)

It might look like a background image but it's just a really wide layer that is scrolled horizontally. To stop it from causing a horizontal scroll bar the layer with the really wide image is contained within another clipping layer. Dig?

Actually, you *can* sort of scroll a background, by dynamically changing the background-position (element.style.backgroundPosition) CSS property.

I gave it a go too:

it resizes a div with a tiled background and moves it left/right.

(P.s. I asked the Doc if I could use the idea before uploading it)

just FYI: if you would use "stitched" pictures. you would get a real 360° perspective panoramic view. like in those quicktime panoramas.
