hi

i'm working on a small flash animation which is integrated to
a html file. i want to now if its possible to load a specific html
window (without a task/addressbar and the navigation buttons)
by inserting a cdrom.
the window should load by putting a cd into the drive...

second question is more about flash but i don't want to open
a new thread for this.

can i load a html site even the flash movie is over?

Xdreamer.ch: Hmmmmmmmm when I first proposed a big list web design (and related topics) of FAQs over in the GN I threw a lot of thoughts in and these provided the basis of the Asylum FAQ but some reason I never added this one:

quote:
Q: How easy is it to produce a CD-ROM?

A: Very easy indeed if you have a rewitable CD drive. The answer depends on your experience - the simplest is to launch a web page with autorun. The main problem is that autorun has to launch an executable file which a webpage clear isn't. However, there are some solutions:
www.avdf.com/jan98/art_vb004.html
www.avdf.com/oct98/art_ot005.html

The first is a VBScript which (given the problems with viruses) might not suit.

Another solution:
www.ashzfall.com/products/autorun

For testing this see: Big MS URL

If you want to get fancier check out this site: www.autorun-autoplay-tools.com

It would be a good idea to test that you've got things right with a CD-RW disc but the above tools are quick and simple to set up and the main problem is deciding on the format have the interface in (if you are using something like Flash you may wish to cut the plugin to the CD as well) and make sure your instructions on the CD are clear for people without autorun.

However, there are also more complex software solutions which allow you to create full multimedia CD-ROMs like: www.macromedia.com/software/director

Some of those links are pretty old but they should provide you with what you need to launch a HTML page from a CD. I think this has come up before and I'll start a FAQ on this and hunt out the thread.

Oh and your second question:

I'm not 100% sure what you are after but I'm sure you could get the Flash movie to end and launch another webpage (or if it is in a HTML page you could use JavaScript and set a timer).

Xdreamer.ch: Ahhhhhh right forgive my spinning off at a tangent there

The only way you could do it is launch the index.htm file and then popup a new window from that - some browsers won't let you close the parent though from the child so you might want to just leave it sitting there.
