hope in here are some experienced guys on this area.
well, i am actually looking for a cheap LAMP (linux,apache,mysql,php) host, preferably located in europe.
with cheap i mean < 3$/month.

any recommendations?

the starter package for $2/month.

embege.com? no. i have registered this one a year ago at www.gandi.net and now i have transferred it to 1uhost.com.

$2.00 freaking dollars a month...!!!... Man that's cheap. Think that I may have to go ahead and get my own domain and server space instead of leaching off of my fianceé's brother.

This topic seems to come up all the time and it can be tricky keeping track of what the deals are. I'm sure you've all seen it but there is a new thread on free LAMP hosting on the go:

And remember Pugzly offers a good deal although I'm always a little cautious of paying per Mb but its worth keeping in mind (and Pugzly its probably worth sticking up a page at RunningWolf with details).

jason, i got the reply-email with all necessary information an hour after i signed up. (VISA rulez!)
and everything seems to work very fine!
just the mysql-admin interface is a bit "extravagant"...
but i havent tested everything yet. any specific questions?

edit: i'll upload everything there next week and test it out fully, and be back with a statement...

GRUMBLE, take a look at the second post in this topic and you'll see the new user with name "makrino" recommending 1uhost. That's probably someone from the same company who saw that people are coming from this web site (referrer log) and registered here to post a few good words about themselves... Anyway, only thing that is worth mentioning is that 1uhost still has the old PHP 4.0.3 (according to their specifications), which should be replaced with PHP 4.0.4pl1 at least.
