My friend and I are starting a Web Design business (what do I mean starting? It's started.)

This is our intro page. It doesn't say anything about the company. There are things that need tweaking. However, I would like feedback. Is it something that will fool people into thinking we're impressive?

By the way, Emps, it is good to be back. I had, as you may remember, been getting out of the Navy. Between the time that I had been moved from San Diego back to Michigan and present day, I had no computer most of the time. The other times it was a mac, so I didn't even bother. But things are looking up. Peep this though-- Moving from sunny San Diego where it's warm and your blood is thin, to Detroit, where it's cold and your blood is still thin. Brrr.

Well I like it as it is even if it's not that best web intro I have seen.

This is just my opinion don't take offence on this - Right one question "Why an intro that's suggests a digital playground site or a flash movie?" does anyone else feel that this intro is like a start of a playground site or flash movie? Yes I know there are web companies out there that break out of the corporate style for there business site to add more fun to the experience, but do you want that, people treating the site like a digital playground? If so then it's fine, if not think about it first .

Right about the intro:

For me this intro has to may stop and starts for, I mean when the ninja is in the air and lands on the hill that takes to long for him to jump off a gain, get what I mean?. also before he lands on the skyscraper there is a pause just before he lands. (not the matrix type thing after that). The first type of music is nice but not a ninja theme music but nice. The second type music is it too fast for the animation and this goes back to the stop and starts, if you want the music and animation to match well match the speed of the music with the animation.

Overall it's nice but just a few tweaking will do it wonders .

Darkshadow, you have confirmed what I have believed. You see, it is impossible to get someone to see it your way without someone elses opinion confirming it. I am no the only person working on this project, and this is the result of that.
I thought the first music should fade into something sounding near to the Japanese cultural music, and work a phat drum beat in. My partner wanted to display his ability to render flash in HTML, hence insisting on the city. I figure that we could have had a shot where the camera is following him as he is running. You then see words in 3D coming at you real fast, float in front of the camera long enough to read and then shoot off as another set of words comes into frame. Meanwhile, the buildings are on a loop so it appears that he is constantly running very fast. I thought that that would be a good reason for him to have his 3d while I could have the scope, or purpose to the animation, if you will, that I had desired.
The jump, I agree, is too long.
When the ninja does his little move before jumping onto the mountain, ninja stars are supposed to hit the screen (just thought you'd like to know, it just hasn't been put in yet).
Tell me if you agree... this should be canned as an intro, and instead used as a demo.

If I were a client, I would not even consider a company with a 2 minute long animation that apparently has nothing to do with anything as an intro page.

I think an intro like this can have merit, DL-44. I think when a design company has some insanely cool design (that makes sense) with all kinds of web candy, it shows a diversity in skills and ability. I can also its drawbacks though. The moment a design company becomes more artsy than functional, the moment it loses its credibility. I think if this intro was somehow worked into a a way for an interface to appear, it'd be pretty keen. However, it might just be better off as a show case of skillz.

as i watched the opening, i thought it had a clean comicbook style to it and then it moved - nice, but during one of the long pauses, i came back here to see the commentary and was reminded its a business site

then my perverse side came out and i kept waiting for words to appear.. something like:

WANT TO ADD SOME DRAMA TO YOUR SITE? WE CAN DO IT !

seriously though, the intro is a bit long for us 56k folks.

where was the 'skip intro' button? also the music was annoying and I was frantically looking for a 'mute' button?

I have to agree with DL, that for a business site it does absolutely nothing for me, except want to stop wasting my time and look for a more professional Co that isn't going to waste my time.

I think a small , original intro can work but it has to be short and original and relevant imho.

Red Ninja: And its good to have you back!! However, I have to agree with the above reviews. Around 220kb isn't too outrageous for a Flash site (and it came through my dailup connection OK) but (and I'm saying this from the position of not being overly fond of splash pages) I couldn't see the point of it:

1. It gives no indication of what the intro is for - games, ninja stuff, etc.

2. The cityscape darkens and then.... is something supposed to happen? Is there a redirect that doesn't work in Op6 (IE6 is sulking tonight) or is that it?

Possibly if I already knew you were a design agency that specialised in Flash and I was looking for some Flash goodies then I might sit through that intro to assess your skills (but only once!!) otherwise I'd have been long gone.

Move the Flash page to a section demonstrating your skills and cut straight to the chase - but the effort into presenting your actual site and abilities in a broader context. As Flash intros go it had some good points and some bad ones (most of them have been gone over above) I just don't see it as really necessary. However, I am now intrigued about the meat of your company so lets see the real goods!!

Nope.

Now, I will say that the 'clean comic book stlye' that someone mentioned above is not lost on me.

It just makes no sense as an intro to a site that is anything other than a 'jumping ninja' site.

IMHO of course.

Maybe the ninja and the city will be used as navigation on the page or something, then it would serve a purpose. If not I have to agree with DL-44.

But anyhow the intro is to long as it is now, speed it up

Doesn't fit for a company intro. Just thought it
were a comic site with lot of stuff.

I'd just like to point out that I always skip website intros.... If I can't skip it then I just leave.
