The image looks flat and faded. 2) The colors are awful in combination. You have far too many colors. I think you could come up with a better color pallette for use here. 3) I am not too sure about the duel column for content. That is a bit scary, I am not sure what to make of it. 4) Instead of using just a mouse over maybe you should try to change the background of the different sections check out ALA for information on this.
