I started off this time with some nice oranges and greys.. now I've gone back to the red... wish I still had the orange to show you to see what you thought, but i don't..

anyways... with the red, I've got a bunch of white now too... the problem is... I think the white is drawing the eye from the content to the top bar or bottom bar... what do you think?

any suggestions? like perhaps toning the background red down a bit or something?

here it is... BurntPixel

thanks

Lurch,

Personaly I like the colr scheme, but if you're concerned about the white bars at the top and bottom try black or a drker shade of grey. Red, blac and white work well together. But, I think the red works.

Hope this helps a little.

i like that no scrolling is needed on your home page. my eye read the title first then dropped to Burnt Pixel on the grey, but backed up to freelance and portfolio. did you want those two words partially hidden? interesting idea to have them do a little jig on mouse over.
http://www.webwhirlers.com/colors/ is a good site for info on colors

Lurch: Not much to say other than I really like what you done there - on the colour front I like the ones you are using - I might (if it wasn't too much trouble) think about making the top and bottom bars grey and the content area white (and the dashed box an offwhite perhaps?). Drawing the attention isn't too much of a problem but that quick switch might work wonders.

Well that has me intrigued and I'll look that up in my atlas tomorrow!!

Anyway good work there - I'd like to see the portfolio and resume pages.

yeah, I took a map, cut north america and a bit more out and then pixelated it to simplify it for a logo... The other logo ideas I was working with were based on flames... but I liked the idea of this one and I think it looks pretty cool to. thanks

how 'bout them breadcrumbs tho?

Lurch: The breadcrumbs seem OK but I wonder if they are really required? It all depends on how 'deep' your site goes at the moment it is pretty 'flat' and probably wouldn't need the breadcrumbs. As you know the way things are going to develop you are in the best position to say whether this feature will become more useful at a later date but as things stand I could just use one of the other navigation buttons.

Well,
your site has a consistent look to it throughout and the colors have always been useable in magazine page design so why not here? Also, I like the diffused header; gives "burnt pixel" some meaning. Also, the site's very tidy and that's a good thing. Just wonder if you can smooth the corners? Jaggy.
