Topic: my site for review (Page 1 of 1)

please can somebody have a look at my website http://quisja.tripod.com/ and give it a quick critique. i am quite rpoud of it being fairly original dare i say so myself, so i wouldnt mind know what others thought.

Interesting idea...but a lot of black...that I don't like (the space is not very well used...). I do like the art section...and Smashing Pumpkins...

I really like the nav, tho. Interesting...

I guess you are using 1024x768 or something similar, trouble is since the main content is in an IFRAME I havent figured out an easy way to resize it to fit the users screen, so I stuck to 800x600 to keep people happy. If anyone knows of an easy way of doing this I would like to know.

I get a '403 Forbidden - You don't have permission to access / on this server' error when I try to view the page.

OK, it's working now...

Yep, too much white (er, black) space. You might just want to center it if you're going to use a fixed size. Also, I have to say that I do not like the navigation. Vincent Flanders calls it "mystery meat navigation," meaning that you don't know what it is before you click. Yeah, I looked in the status line and figured out that the question mark would take me to an 'about this site' page, and I know you explained the arrow, but if the navigation was self-explanatory you wouldn't need to do that. Also, there's no quick and easy way to get back to the front page (it's the last item in the pop-out menu). Of course, everyone has different ideas as to what works and what doesn't.

Here's an idea (and I will not be the least offended if you choose to ignore it): That black space on the bottom left, where you have your sig-- make that taller and put your menu there, but use words rather than icons. You could have the pop-out menu pop up into the same space where it is now, but when the menu is retracted the pic would look a lot cleaner. I don't know if that made sense...

Thanks to everyone who gave me comments, I found them all of the utmost utility and as a result have made the following changes to my site:
+Firstly I have incoporated a graphic I made with The GIMP into the navigation to give it a more unified feel.
+I have given descriptions to the menu items to make them easier to use.
+I have been looking into some sort of liquid design so that it doesnt look so ridiculous on high-res monitors, but havent got very far, so far.
+New free redirect URL which works: http://quis.has.it

Any more comments would also be very appreciated as far as the design aspects of the main page go, and how cross compatible it is, since it was meant to work with IE 5+ and NS6+
