anywayz.. since it is perosnal site, journal thing and msotly for my friends.. they are already in awe at any cheap graphic i make.. so i dont care too much as too how trendy and that stuff.. was looking mroe for lil tweaks.. or maybe something queer in a diff browser.. ty...

OK, here are my thoughts...

Get rid of the splash page. It is completely useless. On the bright side, your "enter" link is text and pops up first, so the user can skip the image load. That's a refreshing change. I'd still dump the splash, though.

It looks to me like you did this the hard way, judging by the way it loaded--and a look at the source confirms that. Tables? No, no--CSS, my friend. Much easier to build and much cleaner (both in terms of code and in terms of design)--and also easier to update. If you really want to go with tables, though, I would at least put some cellpadding in there so the text doesn't run right up against the edges.

I would disable the button that links to each page on that page (ie, the "news" button on the "news" page, the "bio" button on the "bio" page). It can be disorienting to have a link directly back to the page you're already on. You also might want to do rollovers on those buttons to help distinguish (the current page button could already be in the "over" state).

Other than that, not bad. Anything else would be a matter of personal taste. I've never been one for an all green scheme, but it doesn't seem too bad here.

I see a link to the Asylum in your links section. That's always a good thing.

Alright, tyvm.. cellpadding and rollovers i had thought of and plan to do.. i ahve the rollover images rdy just couldnt recall the mousover script off the top of my head.. tmrw im gonna look around for some beginners lessons, or anylessons on divs and css or whatever im sposed to be doin, i knew that but neevr felt like taking the energy to searchit when i could do it in tables, i know bad tables, im so terrible.. im gonna change the color scheme every so often.. for those verde haters.. i know i said im looking for lessons tmrw, but if anyone could guide me to a faq or a tut on simplistic divs and whatnot it be highly appreciated, even tho i only have like what 12 posts, i read the forum thoroughly everday, and ponder some others.. the one from spoono is nice.., o and yes, i will disbale the button of current screen.. had that thought one day when i read someone else suggestin it and it left me.. tyvm again.. night..

o yea and for the first grpahic, splash? is the proper term, i need a designers dictionary.. or go compile all the odd terms i see and post in a noob forum somewhere.. *slap* back on wat i was saying , i know its pointless.. just a personal taste.. thanks again.. maybe one or two mroe will throw in their .02, i'll have like a whole nickel and a linkin..

Yup, that first page with one big graphic is generally called a "splash" page--probably because it's supposed to make a big splash and lure the visitor inside. Unfortunately for splash pages, the Internet is not like a street crammed with storefronts. In that sort of situation, yes, you may want to have a big, colorful sign outisde to grab people's attention. It would make far less sense to have that sign inside, though--but that's what a splash page is. People are already in your front door. They don't want to see some big graphic that doesn't tell them anything, they want content! Anyway, some people like splash pages and some people don't--I am obviously one of the latter. However, it is your personal page, and if you want to have a splash page there, go for it.

As for CSS, here a few sites to get you started...

css-edge - some nifty tutorials, etc. Check out the resources, too, for more links

The Layout Reservoir - from BlueRobot. This is great for playing around and learning the ropes. They give you the layouts, you plug in the content. Once you get the hang of it, you can do your own (or modify theirs).

CSS2 Specification - from W3C. If you're into this sort of thing, it can be a great resource. You might want to wait until you've tried out some tutorials, etc., because it can be a bit overwhelming at first.

Oh, yes, you should also make sure to stop by The Web Standards Project. If you're going to be designing with CSS, you will definitely want to add this to your resource list.
