Just posted most of my new site ... please be advised that not all of the links work (resume, photo, & links), this is still a work in progress.
http://www.haughtbk.com/

Thing I am most concerned about is color. Viewed at home, the colors are fine by me, but when I pulled it up at work my eyes nearly bugged out. Colors turned out very dark (Almost lost the little pen icons in the top dark green bar). So, I am asking how the colors look to you guys. Is it just my work monitor, or is it dark for everyone?

I didn't do anything fancy design-wise. Just wanted something very simple to display my work. As always, your comments are welcome.

the overall look doesn't exactly appeal to me..... nor does the actual colour scheme.

it looks as if you're asking if everything is easily seen, though..... and to that.... my answer is yes. No problem here.
Looks like you've got a case of poor image quality on your menu. ya might want to touch that up.

were you looking for more than that?

Looks pretty dingy to me; you're right about the pen icons being hard to see. I keep my monitors fairly dim, since I usually work in a pretty dark environment. I'd pick a brighter color scheme overall.

Well, dang ... All right, back to the drawing board. Thanks for the feedback.

edit to add: I just did a blitz surf of my bookmarked sites and noticed that the vast majority stick to blues in their color schemes. I never noticed this before. Why is blue so dang popular?

alright since i can see everything fine i picked one color at a time and removed it from my mind, i think it looks fine and dandy without that lighter orangish color.. looks a bit too saturated mayb? i dunno, but i dont mind the big red text or the green bg.. the other green is again a bit too staurated but if u stick to shades of greena nd that maroon i dont have any peronsal gripes, and i can see ur lil pen icon thingies just fine

Maybe it means we're all sad about being stuck indoors all day working on computers...? I know I'm an offender. (And now that I think of it, my body of work is pretty blue also.)

Heh, speaking of colour, I realised the other day that almost *all* of my websites seem to contain a srtong accent in either orange or yellow.

Not that I'm surprised, I've allways liked oragne beh eh...

Although, you may want to have a little read through twitch's acticle about blue. He wrote it a while ago but it still holds quite true:

I've always found colour a had thing to master. Doubly so when you first really start paying attention to it but after a while you'll get there and you'll start to figure out what works well and why. It's like any other skill, you need to devote some quality brian time to get it working well. Pay atention to colours around you, colours of shops, cars, billboards. Ask yourself why the colours were used and why/if they work well.

All right, completely changed the colors and tweaked the design a bit. Dingy was definitely the right word to describe the previous colors. Only page not yet up is the links page.

Sooooo, is the color any better? Had my wife help me pick out a scheme cause I'm so "color illiterate"

Oh, and thanks for the help and advice so far. And that article about blue was very interesting; thanks for the link.

I have no idea what it looked like before but I really like the fonts used and the color.
