Pure white might work for text, but it gets (most of the time at least) too bright on the eyes if you have large areas covered with it. Change it to something like #eee and see what that looks like instead.. Right now the .middle class covers more than 100% of the screen width so I get a HSoD. You have left: 24%; margin: 2%; width: 76%; and if you add all of those together you get a 'box model' width on 104% (=24+76+2(left margin)+2(right margin) ). The same goes for the .top class. You should not set the width of the .middle class. If you leave it unset (or set to auto) it will cover as much space as is left between the .left class and the right edge of the screen. This way you'll avoid getting the HSoD.
