Went live today.
This one is for a brand new company here in stockholm that delivers lunch to your door if you order online. Pyment COD or by invoice if you apply as invoice customer.

I did the design (logo + the site) and a friend did all the db and php (lack of time on my side).
No metatags yet, I know, they work mainly through personal visits with companies and mail for now.

Client is happy so no changes expected, still I'd like your input on the looks and so on.

And please, this is live and it's a friend of mine, so no orders unless you live in stockholm and want to try them out for real...

The food they have sounds good, too bad they won't deliver to Oslo

Not sure that I like the 'middle logo'. The left edge of it is to abrupt, I think it would look better if you slowly faded it to yellow instead. The margin between the bottom border of the logo and the bottom border is larger than the margin at the top which looks kind of strange.

The 'circle logo' looks better. The only thing I can think of mentioning about that one is the gradient used on the fork and knife. Can't really explain why, it is just doesn't seem to fit. Might have looked better if you had used a solid gray color instead...

At first I thought that the gray box around the menu items was a mistake, but I noticed later on that they were intentional. It would have looked better imo if they had each had the same width, instead of clinging to the words like they do now. They might also look better if you had increased the left padding a little bit... The link to the page you are on should also be highlighted in some way and it shouldn't be a link either since it won't take the user anywhere. By doing that you would have told the user where he was on the page as well as saved him from having to load the page he is on again if he clicks the "wrong" link.

The login would have looked better if you removed the border between 'Användarnamn: ' and 'Lösenord:'. I would also have found it natural if the login form followed the user around the page, instead of only beeing displayed on the front page. Are you sure it is not supposed to say 'Faktura kunder loggar in nedanför:''? It looks kind of odd with only 'nedan'.

On the 'Komplett Meny' page the last border of the content is placed right ontop of the border of the bottom bar which doesn't look all that good. Increasing the margin between them by just a couple of pixels would have fixed this. On the same page the margin between the page header and the beginning of the content is much bigger than on the other pages, which looks kind of odd.

The page doesn't validate which isn't a good sign and you should have used CSS for the layout instead of tables. Having a valid page ensures that it is rendered correctly in stanard compilant browsers and CSS makes the code easier to read and work with, etc.

Except for those things I really like the page. Logical layout which is easy to understand. Nice colors that fit the 'theme', are easy on the eyes and they differ from the general color trend.

Hope that the business goes well, sounds like a good concept. I'll mention him to my friends in Stockholm the next time I see them

I'm going to be brutally honest here. The image on the top (not the circle one) is just hideous. I dont even know how to fix it.. its large, bulky, wayyyyyy too many colors and if you want to incorporate that many colors, you need to find a more tasteful way to do it (no pun intended) ...
clean up the transparency as well

the fork and knife should be a solid grey, with it brigher in one spot, what you have looks like some stained metal.

just experiment more, learn more, and always always... remember.... plain text links aren't always the way to go.

Well, thank you for brutal honesty

The top image seems to be center of attention, personally I feel it's way too busy, the client however likes it.

The page doesn't validate, nope, and I can clearly see why not looking at the results...
This was an extremely short of time low budget rush job, the html templates I delivered to the serverside coder validated, as they was turned into php, some mistakes were made and we never re-validated it.

As for all css, well yes.
Take a look at my private site, that's an all css fluid site.
Plain old tables is quicker to produce though, that's why I choose that.

All color and similar is css thoguh.
As this is delivered, live & paid for, I might drop in some minor tweaks but no major rewrites unless they pay for v2...

Thanx!

The first thing that comes to mind when I see that site is symmetry. There doesn't seem to be any relationship between the margins or the "white space" between different elements on the page and this makes it look really messy -- epically with the menu and the space around the logo.

I also agree that the food image is too busy, especially for a yellow background. If you?re using yellow and blue then try and stick with foods that compliment or contrast those colours. A couple of strawberries and a chocolate would look really yummy resting against the right hand margin (yellow to brown to red). Or maybe some grapes (the purple kind) and a luscious pink ham would do the trick (blue to purple to pink/brown).

The logo looks fine but again, I think there are some issues with symmetry here too. If you have every element running at that angel the whole logo looks lopsided. Try playing with the elements a little to balance them out a bit more.

As for not making any major changes unless they pay you well, what's more important; the money you get paid or the quality of work you?re known for?
