Actually I placed my post in the wrong section by mistake. But I see by the your sacrasim that you obviously regard yourself with very high regard. Nice to be new around here, specially with such a warm welcome as yours, and no it's not spam, simple intrigue at finding a great community like this, if alas a little paled by your comments. But thank you anyway.

Drop the splash page. It serves absolutely no purpose and is just annoying.

Why all the borders on the page? They make it very obvious that you've used tables for the layout and the page would probably look better if you removed at least some of them.

You should stick to one background color. On the banner you've used black as the background, but the rest of the page has a dark-blue background. Choose one and use it on the whole page. I would also drop the yellow color. In the banner you've used brown, red, green. Use on of these colors instead of yellow on the rest of the page, red would probably look good. At the moment there are too many colors(or the colors used doesn't fit together) and the banner doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the page. It looks like you made the page and banner separetly without thought of the other and then just threw them together.

The menu elements should have some hover effect. Something that might look nice is if the background color of the element you're hovering over changed to the background color of the page. There are also too many elements in the menu. I think it has been proved somewhere that the "max" amount of links that you should have in the menu is somewhere around 7. You should keep this in mind and then group some of your links together. 'Web design', 'Graphic design' and 'Photography' could for example be moved into a general link called 'Design' or 'Graphics'.

Strictly speaking the menu element leading to the page that user is currently on should not be a link, since it won't really take the user anywhere. This link should also be different from the other links (a permanent hover effect is usually a good choice) so the user knows which page he is on.

The page should stretch to fit the width of the browser window. Right now there is a lot of unused space on the right hand side. If you are set on keeping it at a fixed with, at leat make the page center horizontally in browser window.

Code wise there is a lot to say about the page. The short version is that you should add a Doctype so the page can become valid. Switching from a table based layout, to a CSS based layout would also be a good idea.

Thank you for your comments, I have taken everything you have said and agreed with a lot of it. This is an experiment to see what I can do. I am currently going over a bunch ideas to make it look and feel a lot better. I have to agree with your suggestion on the menu, it is a little much, and the hover idea is one that is already in the works. The reason for the different colors on different pages was because I was getting board with black to be honest, and figured a change on each page would be a different approch somewhat. I do a lot of black and have a hard time getting away from it, but I'm trying, I really am. LOL. Thank you.

V made some good comments up there. I'll just add my impressions briefly:

It always warms my heart to see people using proper encoding. Really. So I want to commend you on that, since a lot of "professional" sites forget this little detail (which makes a big difference for me).

You're really all over the place with the colors--there are just way too many of them. Try to develop a color scheme that will identify the site, rather than using a whole bunch of colors with nothing pulling them together. This is somewhat related to what V said above.

I noticed something really strange on the photography page. The one sentence you have there is a link, but the cursor doesn't change when you hover over it. Ah, I see, you used an onclick event rather than a link. This is bad. A link is a link my friend, pop up or no.

If I had to some up eveything in one word, it would be "consistency." You just don't have it right now. Your site feels like a bunch of disconnected pages thrown together in a box, rather than a consistent whole. Colors will definitely help with consistency, but you need to think about the overall design as well. Sorry if that's a bit vague.

[Edit: Oh, I almost forgot. Your markup is extremely bloated. You'd be better off pulling your styles out into an external stylesheet and linking to it on each page.]

Thank you ::: Thank you ::: Thank you. Do you know how refreshing it is to find a messageboard full of people who are honest, and caring at the same time? Other boards would just shread me to pieces. I am so happy to get advice and input from everyone, it's all good, even if it's not, it's still good because no one chews anyone out, and compliments are given wher e needed. I am in the process of working on a color scheme that will run throughout the site, and at least that way it will run into the pages more effectively. As for the stylesheet thing, I'm still figuring that whole bit out. The dissappearing cursor on the onclick link was and still something that bothers me as it is confussing to many, that is something I will also be chenging. Thanks guys.

Well, that's what we do here--we try to help people. Not that we don't get people in here every now and then who need another orifice torn in their bodies, but for the most part we get a lot of constructive dialogue going on here.

I'm glad to hear that you're working on improving the site, and I'm looking forward to seeing where you take it.
