Quite nice all in all. I didn't see the original version(s) so I can't really agree or disagree with many of the comments above. I will say that although I do like the colors in general, they *do* definately need a bit of tonal contrast. The reason they need this (in part) is because even though we can *see* that they are different colors, and we can identify them as different colors, part of our brain still reads them as medium grey...so even though we visually distinguish color, we unconcsiously associate similar tones as the same thing. THere some good resources linked already, and I'll just add this - take it into PS, as Drac suggested, and desaturated it. Play with the shades of grey until you get something satisfactory. Then, use a hue/sat layer to get the color back, and see the difference. One other thing I'd like to see is a footer of some sort. Even if it is just a line of text stating copyright or ownership, or whatever. Something horizontal to hold the bottom of the page together.
