Take it or leave it's still your website, and you should only make changes to it because the advice people give you here makes sense. I surely hope you wouldn't make the background bright pink if I said it would look better like that. Although, I do see where JK's comming from, the colours of the first site you posted had a certain feal to them, but they still seems a little wrong to me.
