Hi guys!

If you feel the need to review, I made a new design...

http://www.clintmorey.com/jcmp2

...it is really simple, just like all of my layouts, but I would appreciate any comments that you have. The previous version is at http://www.clintmorey.com/jcmp and the review post for that is http://www.ozoneasylum.com/Forum6/HTML/001182.html .

Thanks for everything!

Josh

I like the simplicity, and I couldn't find much to complain about in terms of usability. Design-wise, it's probably not my cup of tea. I know you have an affinity for blue and grey, and they are definitely nice colors, but I like a little more color in my websites. That's not really a criticsm, though, just a comment.

Also, I must admit that I find the picture of you towering over the content and staring out at me somewhat disconcerting. It definitely adds a personal touch, but it kind of freaks me out. Although I guess it would be kind of cool if your body was at an angle and you had one elbow draped over the content box.

Ah, I'm just babbling now.

Bottom line: the site is designed very well, but it just doesn't kick me in the head visually.

"it kind of freaks me out"

LOL, I thought it might - I just don't have the touch for graphical design, so I am trying random things.

I need to get my client-side skills up to the level of my server-side stuff.

Thanks for commenting!

[edit] Regarding my picture, I tried adding Borg implants to my head, but no-one liked them.[/edit]

Can I see the Borg implants pic? If done right, I think that would be pretty cool. Then again, I'm a little weird.

Nice site. It's simple... yeah, I like it.

Although, unlike suho and half of the demented gurus around here, I've never really like blue and grey togther. But that's just me.

For the most part I think the site works quite well, although some of the design elements are a little questionable. I think your overusing broders. The home page is good but every other page seems to have an extra border which is kinda killing it IMHO. The bevels on the background images aren't doing you any favours either.

You've got some great landscape photos in there, why not use something with a little more colour for that backgorund image. As for the image of you?... It's a little cheesy but like Suho said, adds a nice personal touch. However, a few minor levels adjustments and some desaturation of the red around your shoulders would help alot.

I actually like the overused borders, makes eveything look all applicationy, they could stand to be unified across the site though. And Drac's got the goods there on your graphics, can the bevels, work the jaggies out, boost the saturation and work on your mug.

That photo of you in the circle is kinda freaky/creepy. But that might be a good thing =)

Okay, I will try to...

- Phase out my picture to stop freaking everyone out.
- Add more color to the background.
- Revise the way I use borders [maybe].

[edit]- and remove the bevels[/edit]

hmm...alright then, I will get through that eventually.

Suho: I didn't keep the Borg-like image, but I made a new one that looks about the same (I think).

it's not necessarily the image of you that's freaky but it's position in the layout front and center na dmiddle of circle. Like you're god, or the center of attention, or keeping an eye on me or whatever whatever. It's kinda cool in it's creepiness

Hmm.... I seem to be viewing the new and improved version of the site at this point.

Overall it looks very nice.

The way the main content div seemed to be partially transparent almost scared me for a moment.
Turns out it was just a very precisely aligned background image (I almost thought you had resorted to one of those proprietary CSS filters...)

It looks nice, though.

On another note:

While I won't delve into the technical aspects of the site, I noticed you used a fancy CSS2 selector ">" that isn't supported by most browsers.
Its best not to use this on any important styles as they will not be seen by mainstream browsers.
However, when placed into context... it seems awfully like a hack... ;-)

I'm sure I've seen that one somewhere....
