[/quote] Just for clarification: In theory, a font-family specified for the <body> will cascade down to all other elements. Unforunately, browsers today are still affected by the "legacy table parsing" bug. That is, tables will not inherit styles specified in any parent element. This "bug" occurs in both quirks mode and standards-compliant rendering modes. Try it. Add "font-size: 200%;" to the <body> tag of the page. No effect. Add a strict doctype. Still no effect. So for now, it's necessary to select <body>, <table>, and any elements within the table, including <td> and <th>, in order for the inheritance to work correctly. It's redundant, but it's necessary.
