The "official" way to use the <p> tag is to mark up paragraphs, or other similar bodies of text. Think of it as an outline. The <h1> tag is (usually) the page title. The <h2> tag divides the page into seperate sections (navigation, content), the <h3> divides [i]those[/i] sections, and so on. So if you were to strip out all content besides the heading tags, you would end up with something resembling a page outline.
