Hi guys,

I did some major revamping on 3D-Community.com, now the site is (mostly) using a CSS layout.
I'm just using a few tables for the galleries and some stat-tables. > I will be working on that.

Before: http://www.3d-community.com/?p=history
After: http://www.3d-community.com

I'd really appreaciate some critiques/opinions on the site.
Cheers!

I think I prefer the older version acctually. The new one is kind of 'bland'. It lacks something that stands out from the rest of the design. If you add some red (like you had in the old one) into the new design it'll create some more contrast which will make the page feel more alive.

Except from that I like the layout. Easy to see what is there and focused on information, like it should be

But the menu could use some work. You should keep the link color even when you hover over the link. Changing the background color is enough. Lightening both background and foreground decreases the contrast which doesn't feel right imo, if anything the contrast should increase when you hover over a link.

Another thing that I like to see at the menus (both the one at the top and the one to the left) is that the link pointing to the page that I'm currently on should not be a link (since it doesn't lead anywhere) and it should be styles differently. It should be styled differently since it isn't a link and because it will make it easier for the user to see where he is on the page.

About the only thing I can think of commenting on you code is how you've orgranized you news items. You've used two different divs for a single news item and it would seem more semanticly correct to only use one, since the whole 'news' is a single item. I would probably have used a structure similair to the one bellow to code the news.
<BLOCKQUOTE><FONT face="Verdana, Arial">code:</font><HR><pre>
<div class="news">
<h2>Alias

Thanks a lot, I'll do a little bit of testing with that.

I see the point with the code in the poll, but why should it be unordered?
It's ordered alphabetically, when voted, and ordered by number of votes, when displayed.

You're totally right, about the hovering menu, I'll change that.

I was testing aroung with the news, similar, to what you posted, but I just couldn't get it working in all browsers, how I wanted it to.
