yeah I kow it's my 2nd post in a short time. But the info I got here was GOOD. So why not posting my new site...

A Fansite

I kinda like it... the one problem I have are those damn scrollbars (I need them sometimes) in the Iframes. Can i change that? I'm thinking about using dhtml and making some arrow keys? But is that a good idea? And if so, where can I find a good script...

Hmm... design looks vaguely familiar.

Although, honestly, I think you pulled it off better here than you did in the other site. Good contrast on the text, consistency with colors.

Having seen this design for the second time now, though, I realize that the miniscule content area does bother me somewhat. You've got the picture area, which roughly approximates an 800x600 browser window area (but still scrolls vertically), and then the content takes up only a third of that area in terms of width. With the funky border and padding, the content area itself grows even smaller. I suppose that's OK if you don't have a whole lot of content (which you don't), but where it breaks down is in the photos section. I was wondering how you were going to pull off a photo in that tiny content area, and then I clicked on a thumb and saw you didn't even bother trying. That's very bad practice, in my opinion. All that atmosphere that you worked so hard to create with your design just goes flying out the window when the user gets smacked with a pic on a plain white background. At the very least, you could design a special page to display the pics--maybe just that funky border on a plain blue backdrop (you don't need a picture in the background because that will just distract from the picture you're trying to display). Kind of like what you do for the guestbook (which is nicely done, except for the scrollbars, as you mentioend), except without the background pic.

So that's my one complaint, I guess--breaking mimesis with the pics. Fix that and I think you'll be good to go. You might want to reconsider using the same design for two different sites, but I suppose that is a matter of personal preference (and it's not like you're ripping anybody off, either).

Not sure what to tell you about the scrollbars. I religiously avoid iframes and the like, so I'm not too well versed in that area. DHTML would work, but I haven't played around with that in ages. I know the Doc has a nice DHTML scrollbar script that you might be able to adapt, though.

Hope that helps.

[Edit: Oh, the comments I made on tables vs. CSS in the thread for your other site still hold. I just figured there was no point repeating myself here.]

I can see the scrollbar as well.

My suggestion for a somewhat liquid design would be that the non blank-area gets as large as the window size (use percentages) then the image would just discretly fade on the borders to make it looks suitable.

Okay, thats a bit vague, but i am a bit sleepy. :P

I see the scrollbar, but I'm using IE6. It's possible that other browsers are choking on something. Like I said, though, I never use iframes, so I wouldn't really know for sure.

First of all thanks to Suho for reviewing my page... taking time to do that is not something that should be taken for granted...

You are right about the small place to put my text, I've already had to make it bigger for the news section... I think I'll be safe for the other sections for the time being... but still, I limit myself very much... It's a misstake I guess... But when I look at my other site now, I can't see it anymore... this one is an improvement allready... It's like my 3th site I've ever made... but I do study ICT (first year...)

On a side note, it's so great when the band you are making a fan site for starts emailing you and saying thank you and stuff...

Now Alevice, I don't understand a word about what you are saying

From a usability stand point it would make sense to me to move the page around enough so people on our ol' 800x600 monitors can see the menu at the bottom. It looks good in 1024x768, it appears a slight rearranging of things would allow it to look nice and be more usable in both.

Just my initial gut reaction. The rest looks pretty good to me.

I'll consider it.

A bit offtopic, could the moderaters alter my title to "check fansite" or something, it's kinda funny that this page is at the top of some search engines when you search for bands like "epsilon zero".

Hehe... Such is the power of the Asylum. For some reason, search engines (especially Google) seem to really love Asylum pages...

well i don't have much to say right yet but I thought this was cool:

"Epsilon Zero is located in Winston-Salem." That's about 20 min. from me. Might have to go check these guys out.

On that note, I would suggest if at all possible to put in a Band Schedule.

Later,
