This is my first full* CSS site. For the most part I think I covered all my bases, but I am new at this, so if anyone wants to pick this apart I'd appreciate it.

I am having a problem with validation on one page as well. It is the software page, and I am at a loss. Link
EDIT: Figured out the validation

*I used one tiny table, but don't tell anyone.
EDIT: That's gone now too, hooray for floats

Thanks in advance.

Overall I like it a lot. It's clean, simple, easy on the eyes - the colors work well.

It feels like it needs a little something though, on the colors. Everything is a little too similar. It needs some little bit of accent added.

My solution would tie in with my only other gripe -

It would be immensely helpful if the navigation menu showed you where you were, and acted accordingly. For instance, when loading the index page, I shouldn't see a link to "Home" - it should instead be a non-link, with some visual indication that it is different than the other menu items.

You could then add a new color as the background color for this indicator, and solve two problems with one solution.

In case I'm not making sense, you can see an example on my navigation menu for my site - http://in-dented.com/links.php

I get the feeling on every site I work on that I am missing something visually, and I seem to have the hardest time getting over that hump. I guess I am just bad with colors, because to me that is always the most difficult part of a site.

I did make the suggested change to have the current page link stand out, I think it helped a little.

Yup, that helps. Quite a bit actually.

I think it does still need some variation though. It could really benefit by a little bit of blue...

Perhaps the hover color could be made a muted blue (similar to the green, but, blue...).
{{edit - something in the range of #828E9F seems to work well, IMO}}

That would also help make a further seperation between the hover and the headers. They get a little confused, especially with the menu having two headers in it.

Just a thought....

Your're right DL, the blue works well.

Excellent =)

I love it when I can actually help

I have to say the blue really does help. It wouldn't work as anything more than an accent, but it lends so much.

Excellent design. Those are really some of my favorite colors you put in there =)
I also really love those borders on the menu links. I've used that a few times myself, and I never get tired of that effect. It's not used alot, but you do see it out there.

{{edit - what I find really enjoyable is that the hover color is technically green. But seen in context it looks purely blue. Cool =) }}

That blue/green sure is tasty... I'm not sure about the white for the headers though, although I not sure what I'd replace it with.

Is that a table I see in the Laboratory page... if you were being fussy, then you could float both those <ul>s to the left to achieve the same effect.

Nice work all the same.

Hmmm... I go away for a day or so and I completely miss stuff like this. Looks like DL took care of what issues there were. Don't have much else to add, except to say that it does look very nice.

Thanks for the advice & compliments. Feels good to know I made a site the right way, but even better so when it meets the high standards that are demanded in this forum.

Quisja: I had a temporary lapse in brain function that totally made me miss this simple alternative to a table. I guess old habits die hard, especially after doing it that way for so long. The site is now table free. Thanks for the tip.
