I used a similar technique for my headers [url=http://www.spectro-tech.com]here[/url], only I just defined the style with the h1 tag. Looks fine without it in IE51, 55 & 6, Firebird, Moz1, NS7 + Opera5. Why it fixes the problem, beats the hell outta me. I like the site. Those icy blue gradients and the warmth of the main image mix well. One thing I noticed, the white hover color of your links are kinda hard to see. Other than that, it's a great design.
