Even if someone has made similar tutorials for Gimp, you would still be well within your rights to make your own. As for the site: first thing I have to say is: OUCH! The background is seriously distracting, and while have the "neato" factor to a small extent, is all-in-all rather ugly in this application. Small, white, serifed text is probably the worst possible thing to try to put on top of such a background. With those two things combined, you have essentially comitted usibility suicide. I couldn't possibly read enough of the tutorials to give any feedback on them or get any use from them - it gives me a headache (and that's not an expression - I mean that literally). I would highly recommend that you reconisder such a drastic background, as well as the white serifed text. I don't really have time at the moment for anything more indepth - will stop back later.
