As for your code, it is a table hack, it is a validated table hack but still the old school method. I would like to see a CSS only alternative. Other than my nitpick over the code you have done a nice job with the site, you have kept your content in plain text for the most part, which makes it very nice. Renders beautifully in lynx! Being that your site is so sound I don't know why you didn't make a CSS solution for this site. You seem to have spent a whole lot of time making sure your CSS and HTML was valid, I am sure you can go the extra-step to make it a CSS layout with valid XHTML.
