How do I get rid of that little box that pops up over images, the box with the buttons for save, mail, and two other i dont care to remember?

That's IE6 image toolbar. To turn it off go to "Tools / Internet Options / Advanced / Multimedia" and then deselect "Enable Image Toolbar".

You can find a few more options there that you can tweak. "Image resizing" is one of them that you would probably want to disable, too.
