Okay I was curious....
I've got my overflow set to auto for a div and in IE 5 (Mac), a horizontal and vertical scrollbar pop up (like they're supposed to). It works great in NN6 too. Problem with IE is that horizontal scroll. It doesn't need to be there and it pops up inside the div, so it's covering content. It doesn't appear in NN6. I was wondering....is there a workaround for IE5 to make that non-essential horizontal scroll go away or to position the scrollbars differently? Anyone know?
Thanks

Jeni: I've used overflow: auto (quite a bit) and I'm sure I haven't got the horizontal scrollbar in IE/Win (although knowing me I could just be ignoring it) - if you could post a link to the page that would help.

See now...you're right. It doesn't do it in IE6 on windows....hmmm.

Jeni: I don't get a horizontal scrollbar in Win5/Win2k on that left hand column (it all works quite nicely). I would suggest that it might be something odd in Win5/Mac or a small difference in the way things are displayed which is pushing the Win/Mac version out of line - try it with different content.

Thanks for helping and good suggestion on the content thing....I did try making the div wider...but that didn't help...

Jeni: I can't see anything wrong with your code but try a stripped version with no styles on the P tags inside either. I suspect that it may be just one of those things you have to live with but it could be that a few tweaks will fix it. Try hitting it (#mainb) with position: relative to see if that kicks it into line (it often works in IE5/Win).
