Short Question:

It there any way to tell IE that it's allowd to download more than two files at a time?

.

Lengthy Explination: (Just incase you have no Idea what I'm talking about)

I'm assuming the way things are now is just the default setup. Basically, If I want to download say 4 different .zip files so I 'Save Target As' on all four links, only the first two will start downloading. The other downloads will wait untill one of the first downloads has finished before it prompts me with the "where do ya want me to stash ya warez" box.

As you can imagine, this is rather annoying for modem users. What if I want to set up 4 or 5 big downloads and just leave my computer for several hours. I could install a 3rd party download manager but I really despise those things. I just want IE to work the way I think it should.

Is their light at the end of the tunel?

Well, I don't know, but the thing is, no matter what your connection speed, and no matter how many you download at once, all those items will finish downloading at the exact same time. Like, if two items at once take an hour to download, then both those two items separately will take half an hour each, for a full hour of downloading either way.

So, even if you can make them all go at once, it's not going to speed anything up, and you only have a larger chance of losing all the files if your connection gets cut sometime in the middle.

You should really consider using download manager or web browser that comes with one (like Opera 6). IE still has real crappy file downloading feature (if you can call it a feature), and download managers will really save you a lot of time and nerves...
