GRUMBLE: That is all very odd. It seems to want to download something from Opera and if this happens on any page then it may need something else to fix a problem it is fetching. What file is it that it tries to download? |

It sounds like it's not understanding that .html files are supposed to be handled by the browser, instead it either asks for an application to handle them, or in this case, prompts for a save location. FWIW, I also hate Opera with a passion, but I've had this behaviour with other browsers before, always it's been a problem with knowing which actions to take with which file suffix. Look in "File -> Preferences -> Program and paths -> File Types" and then look for "text/html", highlight it and edit it, see what it says. (It should say something like "Open with Opera") If that doesn't work, then re-installing does sound like a great idea, heh. :-) |

Hmm... I have Opera 6.01 running on W2K and I've never had that problem. Mostly I've been using Opera for CSS testing, so I haven't used it all that much, but I haven't run into any problems with it yet. I still use IE 6 as my primary browser, though... |
