I am working on a site with a guy who insists on using Dreamweaver. I would like to take all the font tags that Dreamweaver throws in and replace them with CSS. Not a real big deal but he says that when he updates Dreamweaver puts the font tag in.

Is there anyway to tell Dreamweaver to NOT do this? I have never used a WYSIWYG so I am not sure how they work.

I told him that it wouldn't be that dificult to go in and edit everything and when he needs to change something I could show him how to change it with HTML. I think is afraid.

Anyway, can I get the font tags out when the page is updated in Dreamweaver???

As always, thanks in advance.

maybe it works if you just dont define a font to the document?

Thanks, I will read through that article. I remember seeing it now, I just skipped it because I hate WYSIWYG

As far as I know, DW does not put the font tag by itself. I would rather say, the guy is doing something wrong.

Sash, I think you are right. I don't really care too much for what he has done so far but hey, who am I to judge
I would love to just take over this project and make it my own but then again I'm kind of greedy that way. Thanks for the info. I will talk to him some more about it.

Dreamweaver does do strange things... Upcoming Version 5 takes that into consideration and you can style pages all-CSS!

Go here:
http://www.macromedia.com/software/dreamweaver/productinfo/features/flash_feature_tour/

select "3 - code" and then "2 - design" then click on "supercharged css"

Awww, I'm gonna get flamed for being a Dreamweaver user... and it is such a nice app...

Yeah, it doesn't put in font tags unless you apply a font with that box thing...at least not the couple times I've visited DW.

I use Dreamweaver every day, and even version 3 doesn't put in FONT tags unless you use the inspector. It also doesn't edit your code ever except to make indentations of elements which you edit explicitly. I agree WYSIWYG is responsible for more bad design than anything else, but for the experienced Designer Dreamweaver is a very useful tool alongside a good text editor (particularly BBEdit on the Mac).
