Paddings are supposed to be added to the width of an object (a div), and that's how Opera and Mozilla aka Netsape 6 do it. But IE doesn't. As for the solution, it's quite simpe: Put another div into your #goldenemitte (around the text), apply the padding to that one and everything's fixed.
