Hmmm... The samples here are exactly what I'm talking about: [url=http://www.w3schools.com/xml/xml_data_island.asp]http://www.w3schools.com/xml/xml_data_island.asp[/url] "Data islands" immediately give me the following idea: A db and server side script generate the XML data island, the data island is then "bound" to an interface, which can use either Flash, Java, javascript or [you choose a client-side tool]. It makes me understand most applications I seen: Take youngpup's site, an asp component is used as server side tool to "do something" (either generate the data island,or help for parsing and binding to xml, or both). That data island being bound to yp's interface, it explains the fast loading of "fields" (windows or panes on his site), which act exactly as database fields. Changing record without changing interface. Does that make sense?
