So from my limited experience I have noticed this happening when an absolutely positioned <div> is placed inside a table. The CSS spec says absolutely positioned elements should be positioned relative to the nearest absolutely positioned ancestor. The solution would seem to be to pull the <div>s out of the table they are in.
