essentially they want it to work like any other windows application
Well, I think they can forget about that. DHTML is not intended to replace "any windows application", it could reach some extent using Iexplore only, but only some extent: security, speed, etc.. Issues would raise soon. That phrase would make me completely discourage such a mistake, if you build such a system, you should consider its future: scalability, how many employees will it have to handle next? flexibility, how many users at the same time and can it stand the charge? What should be performed on the client and are you sure dhtml can achieve it. Say you need an auto upload, you'll suffer to get past the security restricitons that prevent you from doing that, and even if you go past that, who can tell how the auto upload would work? I used to think php and javascript were enough to build a web app, they're not. but for the references, msdn, www.dhtmlcentral.com and http://wrox.co.uk and www.w3schools.org If you expand a little bit on the expected features, especially the critical ones, those that seem hard to do, I'll be able to tell you if and how it would be possible. But the whole project sounds too ambitious to me. My 2 cents.. [This message has been edited by InI (edited 10-25-2002).]
