I would suggest you use div instead of p for defining blocks like that as: a) The p tag often comes with default settings whereas a div doesn't. b) As you say it still has 'meaning' to things like search engines and reading browsers (for the visually impaired) should also interpret a p to mean a paragraph. 2.
