Although SVG specification looks impressive, the end-result depends on what library/plug-in/whatever you use to render SVG images.

BTW One of the things that first come to my mind regarding SVG is that you can use SVG icons in Gnome desktop environment (which uses LibRSVG for SVG rendering). Having vector based icons in desktop environment looks very nice...

There is a lot of interesting SVG stuff going. I like the idea of a SVG whitebaord although current implementations are a little rocky (to say the least):
