That code is from a smart guy (which isn't me). I think having expressions for the values is a good thing. Question is, when is the expression evaluated? Only once when document is read, or whenever the styled element needs it? If it is the latter, then how nice to be able to change variables and impact what the effect of the stylesheet is.
