I'm getting some weird results with a feed, and I'm hoping someone here is using a news aggregator other than NewsCrawler 1.5

feed

If you look at the feed in IE, it looks fine - 15 items. If I look at it in NewzCrawler, I get only a handfull, usually around 6-8. I don't see a problem in the feed output, and the problem only occurs when I include the pubDate for the individual items. If I take it out, the problem goes away, and NewsCrawler sees all 15 items. Removing pubDate permanently isn't a solution.

Anyone?

Well, I'm looking at it in the RSS Reader extension for Firebird, and I can see all 15 items... must be some NewsCrawler-specific bug...

Pugzly: Have you validated your feed? It appears to be broken at the moment:
http://feedvalidator.org/check?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.macombsheriff.com%2Fdev%2Fxml%2Findex.php

but I'll try again later if it isn't.

I had a problem with the date format but RSS 2.0 uses a different specification for the date than RSS 1.x and your use seem fine. The only real difference between your feed and the example RSS 2.0 I can see is that pubDate is a child of the item and they use lastBuildDate for the date of the channel. Not sure if that is the answer but...........

Well, pubDate deals with the date of publication for the item, while the lastBuildDate has to do with the last time the feed was updated (downloaded). If you don't use pubDate, then the date for each item defaults to the download time of the feed (which is REALLY annoying).

Looks like it's working when I view it in the same version of NewzCrawler on another machine. Weird....

Thanks for the note on the validation. No big suprise it doesn't validate yet. I haven't gotten that far (although the fact that it only flops on one minor issue is encouraging for my first feed!)

I actually meant that the validator was broken so I couldn't check your feed

Its back up and says you need to add in the email addresses
