[b]krets:[/b] As I said above, the [i]clear:both[/i] cleans the 3 columns layout but it does NOT reveal the background of the nesting DIV even with a valid doctype. Well to clear up the things, if you hadn't noticed in the [b]Site reviews![/b] topic, I'm re-designing a [url=http://www.256b.com/beta/index.htm]site[/url] ( click on the logo to see another page ) and wanted to have a 3 columns sub-layout with a border between the columns. Due to the different box models, it'd have been a nightmare to do it with CSS borders so I've decided to do them with a background image in the [i]"threeColumns"[/i] DIV hence my question.
