I'm using various 3d and 2d image programs to make a little movie to stroke my little ego.... now I want to put sound in it...

...how do I do that? What programs can do that?

Most any program that you can use to edit video should allow you to add audio.

I use Adobe Premiere, currently.
In the recent past I have done projects on Media 100 and Avid systems.

Simply import the audio file into your clip library. Drag to an audio track in your timeline. Adjust for volume and channels. Done.

What are you using to edit your video??

quicktimePro could do it, but only for merging
the finished audio and video files of already exact same length,

you can do it in a workaround way in flash,
director is workaround too if no interactivity is needed.

check the coverCD's of them creative-mags, for free
old versions, strata.com and cleanerEZ are lightweight
video editors that I've seen on such ... to make your own
sounds, use proToolsFree.

what are you delivering: a 'videoclip' or an 'interactive piece' ?

nah.... just a 'blade runner'-ish short film....
