Currrently have a 4gig HD partioned out to c:\ & d:\ Installed '40' gig HD (both are Fujitsu btw) cmos shows, Primary Master 4326MB Primary Slave 40992MB So it would seem at cmos level the 40 is being recognized. Solved with these fine instructions... which I post just in case someone else runs into this problem. How do I use FDISK/FORMAT to install a secondary hard drive within Windows 9x/ME? Start by selecting Run from the Start menu. Type FDISK in the box that appears and click OK. The first screen asks if you want to enable large disk support for using FAT32 partitions. Answer Yes if you want to use a FAT32 partition. At the main menu, you will see 4 options if only one hard drive is present, and 5 if you have more than one hard drive. 1. If you have 5 options, select option 5 (Change Current Fixed Disk). From the next screen, select the hard drive that needs a partition. After you select the correct hard drive, you will be returned to the main menu of FDISK. 2. At the main menu, select option number 1 (Create DOS Partition or Logical DOS Drive) and press ENTER. 3. At this menu, you will have a list of 3 options to choose from: Create Primary DOS Partition, Create Extended DOS Partition, and Create Logical DOS Drive(s) in the Extended DOS Partition. The partitions are created in the following order: Primary, Extended (the rest of the capacity available after the Primary partition has been created), and Logical drives. 4. In most cases, you will select Option number 1 (Create Primary DOS Partition) and press ENTER. 5. At this point FDISK will verify the drive and respond back with a. "Do you want to use the maximum available space for the Primary DOS partition?" message. Answer "Yes" to this question. 6. Once the partition has been assigned you will get a message stating the drive letters have been changed/added, and you will be asked to reboot the computer. 7. Reboot your system. My Computer will now contain a new drive letter (likely D :). Verify the drive letter with FDISK before going on.
