InSiDeR: I've used it to edit sound clips, envelope the sound (to fade in and out) and convert .wav files into the right encoding to use in things like Tuareg (free multi-channel music creation thingy from the guy whos site that is - Bram Bos King of free online music apps - check out his HammerHead drum machine!!). If it is that kind of thing then I can help if you let me know what you want to do (its tricky as it is slightly disabled so you need to enable the bits you want when it starts up).

Ok well this is my story... I HATE WINDOWS XP and especially the music start up when you start your computer. So I went to the ozone forum to ask how I could change that to an mp3 clip and they gave me the answer but it had to be a .wav and not an mp3. I wanted a clip of Sober by TOOL on my startup. So I come here and post the topic and get the program and I got the song they way I wanted. But I can't save it! I edited sober just the way I wanted but when I went to hit save as its option wasn't lit so I couldn't save or save as. How can I save it as a wav?

Goldwave is free, and it lets you save. Well, actually its not free, but it nevers makes you register and is fully functional if you don't.

If your going for a ful fledges audio editing system, use Sonic Foundries Sound Forge. Just make sure you want to commit $300 to changing your windows sound scheme.

[sly voice]Of course you don't always have to pay for it.................[/sly voice]

cb: Report to the Punishment Room.

InSiDeR: My best guess is that when you start up the software you only have two options and haven't selected 'Save, External Clipboard Functionality...' as well as 'Amplify, Envelope, ...' - I know this because I think that I made the same error just before when checking it out. Close it down and start it up again and see what the selected options are. You really don't need anything like Sound Forge but if you do then I believe they do a demo if you go over to the Sonic Foundry site.

I've only been playing around with a few things but there are a lot of legitimate free goodies out there that you can use - I've had a bit of a chat with j-man over at the GN on this topic and there are some useful links there:
www.gurusnetwork.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=000187

Let me know if that hasn't helped and I'll have another think on this.

Hi !!!

I strongly suggest this link: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/

Small, fast, and one of the best program to convert sound and size.
