This is continuing from a post under site reviews, hopefully some more people will see it here...

I have a problem with my webhost in that you cant download files, so i cant put links for people do dl a movie then watch it on their pc, so the only other option really is embedding.......

Currently i have use an apparently I.E ONLY way of embedding, since the normal embedding way is buggy at best... I was wondering what the real options are and what people think is the best way.. I was considering quicktime but even then i know people that dont like it - no pleasing everyone .. as usual..

Also with compression if i went with avi, something like divx, most people dont have support for this and the codecs never seem to download automatically, so getting the movie size down is another problem.

Anyhow let me know what you all think, would much appreciate it - thanks.

youll never find a video format that everyone likes. quicktime is very good for better quality.

if low filesize is important i suggest asf or wmv. both are very easily streamable. tell me if you are interested.

thanks Grumble, yeh i am interested,

wmf and asf use wmp right? im just worried about the cross system stability of that, when i tried the normal embedding it was very dodgey at best, but hey maybe im just doing it wrong.

wmp = windows media player?

not really, they need the wmc (=windows media codec), which is standard on all windows machines and im pretty sure, there are version for other OSs too! you also need the windows media encoder to produce wmvs. check www.windowsmedia.com

i think you have to make a wvx file with about that content:
edit:
