Hi everyone,

I came across your board looking on how this is done. Great board you have.

I would like to know how to make this.

Its cool, I would like to make this. Anyone knows how this was done?

What program do I need to do it with?

There are lots of programs out there that will convert images into ascii art. I'd be betting that's what was used for this. I'd say the image was first an animation of a man walking and then each frame was run theough said program and stiched back togther afterwards.

Try a google search on image to ascii art converters or something.

Heh, that reminds me, some of my friends wrote a really nifty app that would convert video into ascii art on the fly for their 3rd year software engineering project. Man did that look cool running on a huge projector screen. Err, anyways, yah, google for ascii and you should find something to your liking.

I was also thinking, they could have used the animation of the man walking as a mask and had the background just be the ascii

I'm disinclined to think it's done with a mask. That would most certainly result in characters being clipped and this doesn't demonstrate that. Must be original ASCII art. It's VERY cool. I like it a lot!

Sometimes ive opened my jpgs from photoshop and theyll say something like made in photoshop in them. I opened this in a text editor and nothing special came out just GIF somewhere in the beginning. I'm interested to know how the person did that though

I'm pretty sure Dracusis is spot on about how it was done.

yeah, but it could still be done with a mask...
just use a proportional font (all letters the same sice) and make all dimensions of your mask a multiple of that...

Someone spent a really long time doing that. I just took another look at it, and I'm baffled. It's almost as if it was done using many many layes, and then just put into a sequence in imageready or something. Hmmm. I could be totally off the mark, but it is cool.

Mob, are you slow on the uptake? Read both Drac's and SB's posts. It canbe done either way.
