Anyone given 3dml a test drive lately. It now has simkin (scripting) integrated. Download is still free
but it changes to "nagware" after x days. I think it has fantastic potential if they can keep afloat (ie. not go belly up) http://www.davecentral.com/projects/flatlandrover/?topic=29,61

I've building with 3dml since they started, would hate to see them disappear before the word gets out.

anybody have any experience with the new version?

The poster has demanded we remove all his contributions, less he takes legal action.
We have done so.
Now Tyberius Prime expects him to start complaining that we removed his 'free speech' since this message will replace all of his posts, past and future.

Bonjour Ini
This is a technology that is incredibly promising but floundering due to lack of awareness, lack of funding and most importantly lack of killer applications....let's face it 3d on the web is years away...look at Macromedia and Adobe, even with their brands and big bucks they haven't made much of an impact.

so to answer your question, i think they are focusing on the broadest user base right now (wintel) with mac and unix (linux) to follow...there was a Mac version at one time (if i'm not mistaken).

What i find great in 3dml is that it allows a mix of design or programming....with the right textures you can do some pretty great stuff, a 3d designer can build his own blocks or recycle existing models, and a programmer can develop something as complex as a checkers game...

please give me your impressions after a first test drive.

merci et salut.

p.s. i don't consider myself to have any raw talent whatsoever in graphics or design (but i give it my best shot). i probably still can't draw a straight line...

J'ai vu ton site Ini.....i saw your loader
sweet!

p.s. the 3ds for lara croft from tombraider 2 is widely available on the internet...would make an
interesting attention to your other models.

p.p.s. my remarks about 3d technology were more about applications then anything else..what
i meant was that it's very difficult to find viable applications whether for e-commerce or virtual
showrooms etc...i find this very frustrating...i've got a broadband connection and 64 meg on my
graphics card...so bring it on

edit: lara crof??? why not laura crof?

Hi
I use 4 browsers (NS/IE) under 2 win OS's (dual boot). IE6 is setup and I also have (I think) the latest java which was bundled with the freeware tutorial software from www.qarbon.com (a great java application)

As for 3ds archives, i'm not familiar with many other than http://www.3dcafe.com/asp/meshes.asp. i tend to stay away from
high poly models for 3dml purposes.

I will find the link for the lara.3ds (i have the model - don't remember the size) if not, will upload my copy.

Will look at your site in more detail after work.

merci et bonne journee

Hi
Keep in mind that this one is copyrighted..if it looks like the real thing it's because,AFAIK, it is the real Eidos/Core TR2 model..there is a utility called jack-something to extract these meshes.(the classic textures bmps are in the zip).
http://www.klicker.de/e_mod04.htm
full model and textures
as seen in my rhino:

P.s. when you render this model, not in rhion, but in studio max...wow!
edit: one pic too many
salut
