Topic awaiting preservation: POV-Pong

Anyone up for a pov-ray pong game? I am.

maybe.. Depends on the flavor of the game I suppose. My life's been through a blender a lot lately, but I always enjoy a good excuse to mess around with pov.

Really! You use POV-Ray too? I didn't know. How good are you with it?

Personally, I'd say I'm "pretty good" with it... I know all the features but sometimes I have a hard time acheiving the effect I want, and a lot of my images tend to come out very similar to each other...

Yup, pov too. I've been dabbling with POV since version 1 or 2. My skill level ranges from intermediate to expert. Mostly intermediate. I have an annoying habit of learning just what I need to learn to do what I want to do. So certain sections of POV I've hardly delved into over the years.

If you'd like to see a few examples of my pov work, here are some links:

An under construction image I created once.
A haunted house. This one took a very long time to create. I don't know if I'll ever be satisfied with it.
A chrome spiral thingie. I even set up a tutorial page for this one ages back.
A nifty Jack'o'Lantern.
An attempt to model casino dice.

I go through fits and starts with my art. Sometimes I'll get real intense and do bunches of stuff in Pov or Photoshop. Other times, I feel totally uninspired. So let's see if a pov challenge will spark something here. The more the merrier, I say.

Heh.. yea, I know about that thread. It's actually how I found the Asylum. If I recall rightly, someone posted a link to it on the POV newsgroups. And Yea, Schitz, I've been lurking on the POV newsgroups for a few years now. And have been involved with the IRTC, more as a sometime admin member than as an entrant, for a few years as well.

Sounds like a plan on getting more folks involved. And if we don't get any more takers, maybe we can do a round-robin comp.

We don't have *too* many people on this board who use POV-Ray, only a few, mainly me, SB, and grumble, though I think there are maybe a couple others too...

I don't post much on the newsgroups there. Mainly I lurk. But when I do post, it's generally with my real name, David Heys, rather than Witherin. Likely because I'd never bothered to learn how to change the settings in Outlook.

I think it might've been me that posted that thread. (I don't remeber what I posted though) I'm Corey Woodworth there.
