It is.

I wish people would get it in their heads that DPI is meaningless when you're dealing soley with computer screens as your medium for showing people images.

No offense to you, tom, *many* people make this mistake...

Anyway, though her dress looks somewhat metallic, I like the lighting and the skin texture looks somewhat real.

ok lemme clarify something here if you are rendering or say using ps to create an image and you want to use it for print, rendering with an output of 72 pixels per inch if ya gonna use an image on a A0 poster would be dumb as hell because it would suck although the proportions etc would be right when it came to printing it would look crap, thats why ps allows you to constrict image size but increase the dpi and although ya get a massive increase in pixel size the image proportions remain the same, ok back to our issue here, poser allows you to increase the DPI outexactly the same way as PS does so for print its great, that is all that i am trying to say. And nod i do understand the concept of dpi, just maybe not expressed what i was saying very well, like 3d Studio Max etc you can render at different resolutions depending on what ya target media is...maybe i should have said pixels per inch. as i do a lot of work for print this helps me out, all i was trying to get across is poser is a bit under estimated and was trying to show the people that have been asking me about the power of the render engine that it can create high res images for print etc.

But the DPI doesn't mean anything until you actually send it to a printer.

What I mean is, when you saved it as a jpeg and posted it here, I saw an 800x600 pixel image. The size of it was completely dependent on how big pixels are on my monitor. So unless you're specifying your image size in inches, the DPI doesn't mean a thing until it's printed.

I KNOW THAT! read my post i was trying to show that poser is capable of it, maybe i should have posted that screen capture in the original post.
only things to effect an image on a screen is colour depth of image, coulour depth of screen viewing image. If ya read through my edited post you would see my clarification....guess ya didnt

Very elegant work tome! She is beautiful! Did you do that all in poser or did you use that with other programs?

What Poser does, with regards to the DPI, is sets it according to the DPI only. If you choose to render at 800X600 pixels, but at 150 DPI, instead of the image rendering at 800X600, it'll render at something like 1500X1200 (going from memory here). Personally, I render at 200dpi or greater, then scale down in Paint Shop Pro, since the quality of the image and detail is still apparent to the extent that you control the amount of detail distortion, as opposed to Poser. I have found Poser to lose a lot of detail at lower dpi, especially in the eyes. Excellent render tom... looks great. I personally love the china dress, and I think that tecture is by Steffi, isn't it? I can't place the name... but I think I've seen it from her.
