Another model i am working on, still not too happz with the texture and bump map i created in photoshop but its getting there slowly, model created in 3d studio max, final version will be high a poly count model so the ring will be smoother.

Looking pretty good. A couple of things I noticed... This close, You'd see the breaks in each link of the chain, or the welding points where the ends were joined. Also, you'll need to increase the mesh count on the chain links to smooth out the curves. I can make out the individual segments. The lettering on the ring looks great. Maybe move it up just a bit so the tails on the letters don't get so close to the edge of the ring. I'm not sure if it's the lighting or the ring's base color, but one of them is giving the ring a bit of a coppery feel.

i think the chain should be more shinyness or rusty.
and the ring is very good. but also some relfection and phong wouldnt hurt.

thanks folks, the chain wont actually be part of the commercial release, as for the text ya right it does need moving up (thanks).

the actual final product will be released to the poser side of 3d initially (thats what i made it for).

as for the colour of the ring, thats down to the lighting, the onlz problem i really have is trying to make the text on the ring look deeper, but as it is so thin the bump map is not easy....
