Topic awaiting preservation: Wow! Internationally recognised Certifications that AREN'T a scam?

Yes, that's right...internationally recognised school of Animation (particularly 3D), The Renaissance Centre, is offering it's normally very expensive classes online...totally free.

As yet they're only providing Motionbuilder, Houdini and 3D Studio MAX 5, but there's more to come in the future. You watch all the lessons the same way the actual students do, you take small tests the way the students do, you write essays the way the students do, take loger exams the way the students do and submit projects the way the students do....

To do it go to http://www.3dbuzz.com , sign yourself up an account, sign in, select online courses in the User Panel on the left and then select the course you want. Put your name (and you have to put down your real address so they can mail your diploma or whatever to you) down for it and start learnin'.

Yes....this is a truely most awesome experience and offer, for that matter. Thanks to myself who decided to click on the little link that says Online Course in the User Panel, I soon found myself immersed in this exciting situation whereby I can do this course offered by good 'ol Buzz himself and his crew, from my own home, for absolutely no charge! Brilliant stuff!

3dbuzz has some cool stuff, only thing i'll add is that certifications when it comes to this sort of thing don't mean a thing. if you learn something out of the class and get better then great, but rarely (if ever) will an employer care about any sort of certification you've got. its all about the reel.

You're damn right it is, but the point with all this is that the education that they provide is a very good education in 3D. It's done in such a way that what they teach you is easy to remember, and gives one confidence in doing it. They teach you that your ideas do have merit, and that they are workable

The problem with alot of online courses 'n stuff like that, especially 3D tutorials is that they do one of two things...they either

1. Teach you alot of flashy tricks that are of questionable merit in the industry; or

2. They overwhelm you with 'now move this here, that there, do a whole lot of tweaking that we aren't going ot show you, and oy'll end up with this'. But with 3D Buzz, by the fact that the tutorials are downloadable videos you can see exactly how they are doing something, making it much easier ot learn, and the support 'n stuff you get through the forums (and the Virtual Classrooms inside the courses) mean that you get feedback on your work and it makes you feel a whole lot more confident in what you're doing. And that confidence is better placed than the misled confidence inpired by point 1.

Now, I'm not saying that everywhere online is like this...but a majority of them are.

Wow !! i came in here for the first time ever, because i have always wanted to try my hand at building models and wanted to ask you guys what the best way to start my journey is, and look !! a course,online and free !! What can i say !

I have signed up, so from a guy that knows absolutely nothing about this field, i'll let ya know how i get on.

Wow! And I only live 2 hours or so away from the Renassaince Center .. and never knew it.
