Topic awaiting preservation: hashing or hiding url variables

I thought when you used "post" as the method in a form that the variables being passed from the form wouldn't show up appended to the url in the address bar.

If I'm not mistaken, what would cause it to show up there?

If I am mistaken, is there a way to encode it so it can't be read, and then unencode it in the script it gets passed to?

When you use POST method, variables won't show in address bar. They will only be showed when you use GET method.

It's a bit embarrasing, but it was appending to the URL because there were actually 2 form tags, and the first one of the was like this <form>. As soon as I got rid of that, all was well.

Any chance of the next version of Beauty having the vertical scroll bar in the coding window on the right side instead of the left? I know it's being picky, but I just can't seem to get used to having it on the left.

Hmm, on my computer vertical scrollbar is on the right side... Are you running the latest version of HTML Beauty (1.5 build 3700), which has fixed that problem which was appearing only when running under Windows 2000.

FYI I'm currently working on new version of HTML Beauty, which has completely new GUI (three different styles - native Windows XP style, exact Office XP style, and style inspired by Mac version of MS Office), support for Mozilla, improved Quick Open (now called Mini Explorer, since it's similar to Windows Explorer), new regexp engine, better file handling, http/ftp open and much more (all those features are not completely implemented, yet). Hopefully, I'll release it sometime in February...

I'm still having trouble with your website. I can get to your front page, but if I click on any of the links, I just get the front page returned. I can typr in an exact address like:

http://www.maxworld.co.yu/htmlbeauty/

and get that page, but I can't get there from your front page.

Just thought I'd let you know.

GRUMBLE, it's made in the same programming language as HomeSite...

Butcher, I thought that I fixed that issue with sessions handling (returning back to the front page when session is invalid), but guess that I was wrong. Now, to be 100% certain that the problem is located in my session handling library, can you try viewing my web site in some other browser (i.e. Mozilla or Opera) and see if the problem persists. Also, if you're surfing the web through proxy server, can you turn it off? And as last option, when you come to the first page of MAX's World (in IE), copy URL that points to HTML beauty's page to the clipboard (so that it contains MAXSESSID parameter) and paste it into address bar and go there directly...

I have been accessing your site using IE from within my ISP software (Compuserve). As soon as I tried to view it from IE 5.5 that is not within Compuserve, your site works fine.

Sorry for the alarm. I know this isn't the first time the Compuserve version of IE has acted in a manner different from what the regular version of IE does.
