Ultrakapy Obsessive-Compulsive (I) Inmate From: Insane since: Aug 2002	posted 10-12-2002 20:03 I just installed MySql on my XP machine, but when I try to start it "C:\mysql\bin>mysql", an error occurs saying "ERROR 2002: Can't connect to MYSQL server on 'local host' <10061>". Does anyone know how I can connect to the server??

Anyway, you must first start MySQL server daemon "mysqld-nt.exe", before starting MySQL command-line client "mysql.exe". Also, you should take some time to configure MySQL, "mysqladmin.exe" and "winmysqladmin.exe" will come in handy...
